      Age limit for HCS Exam

      This is a unique feature of this exam because the upper age limit for the unreserved category candidates is 42 years except for D.S.P. posts). The lower age limit is 21 years. The age is counted from January 1 of the exam year. For the post of Haryana D.S.P, the lower age limit is 21 years, and the upper age limit for the unreserved category candidates is 27 years. The upper age limit is further relaxed for the reserved categories:

      1What is HCS?
      HCS is highest level state services exam conducted by Haryana Public Service Commission for the administrative posts in government of Punjab who is the executing authority to maintain peace and order in the state government like SDM, DSP, BDO, etc.
      2What is “CUT-OFF” and how it is decided?
      Cut-off is the minimum marks required by a candidate to clear the examination. It is declared after the final result of prelims, mains, and interview. Those candidates who score minimum marks and more declared as successful candidates while others are declared as un-successful candidates. The cut--off gets changes every year due to many reasons like difficulty level of question paper, number of seats, etc.
      3How to manage the time in the exam, as it is the biggest challenge for the candidates?
      Time management plays a vital role in clearing the exam. Take mock tests series before the exam and analyze each section and each question that how much time it is taking. If a candidate enables to identify which questions are taking more time, it will not waste the time and practice also increase the speed.
      4What is the importance of mock test series for prelims?
      There are many benefits of giving mock test series before prelims. First, it will help you to manage the stress. Second, helps you to manage the time. Third, you can give different test series and check which area gives you the best result and decide your strategy. You can also able to convert your weak points into strong points if you have time. Last but not least, you will able to see your level.
      5many candidates are weak in English and think they can’t crack CSAT but it’s not true.
      A candidate can succeed as there are very few questions which are in only English that are based on comprehension and grammar. The comprehension passage is given in very easy language so you can easily understand and mark the answers correctly.
      6Some candidates are weak in Maths and think they can’t crack CSAT but it’s not true.
      A candidate can succeed as there are only 15 questions of math out of which half questions are of reasoning. The nature of these questions are very simple like based on simplification, identities, which can be easily solved. So with your little effort, you can solve the questions and clear the exam.
      7It is necessary to fill all the answers in OMR sheet together or we can fill one by one.
      It is better to find the answers of 5-10 questions and fill the OMR sheets. As filling answers one by one will consume your time as well as some candidates left the OMR sheet to be filled in last, and due to time they will not complete it. So better to find 5-10 answers and mark the answers in OMR sheet.
      8Which optional subject is best for the main examination?
      This is the decision which depends on the success of the candidate. The real thing which a candidate should look while choosing the exam is how scoring it is. If a subject is small, also helps you in general studies but gives you 50 marks less in comparison to others then it is not appropriate to choose it.
      9What is the role of interview?
      The final merit list will be based on the marks of the mains and interview. The interview comprises of 75 marks. It is essential to clear the interview as it will decide you rank as well as you post. While interviewing, the panel will look for the overall personality of the candidate.
