Vacancy Breakdown: How Many Seats Are Available?
While 958 candidates have been recommended, final appointments will be made based on the actual vacancies reported by the Government of India for each service. The total advertised vacancies across all services this year stand at 1,087, which includes 42 seats specially reserved for persons with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) — covering PwBD-1, PwBD-2, PwBD-3, and PwBD-5 categories.
The Indian Administrative Service has 180 total vacancies. These are distributed as 74 for General category, 47 for OBC, 28 for SC, 18 for EWS, and 13 for ST candidates. The Indian Foreign Service has 55 seats — 22 General, 15 OBC, 8 SC, 6 EWS, and 4 ST. The Indian Police Service has 150 vacancies, with 60 for General, 42 OBC, 22 SC, 11 EWS, and 15 ST candidates.
Central Services Group A has the largest share with 507 vacancies, while Group B Services account for 195. All appointments will strictly follow the Civil Services Examination Rules 2025 and the category-wise figures notified by the government.
Although 958 candidates have been recommended by UPSC, the final allocation of services will depend on the vacancy distribution across IAS, IFS, IPS, and various Central Services.
