UPSC 2024: 14 from Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh Crack Civil Services

Introduction:
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) 2024 results have brought a wave of pride and inspiration to the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. A total of 16 aspirants—12 from J&K and 2 from Ladakh—have successfully cleared the Civil Services Examination this year, showcasing the growing ambition and resilience of youth from these regions.
Among the successful candidates, Iram Choudhary from Rajouri emerged as the highest rank holder from the region with an impressive All India Rank 40, followed by Mohammad Muneeb Bhat (AIR 131) and Mohammad Haris Mir (AIR 314). Several of these achievers, including Ghulam Haider from Kargil and Rigzen Angmo from Leh, represent the more remote areas of the Union Territories, proving that geographic challenges are no match for determination and discipline.
Many of these aspirants were already in government service—working as officers in the JKPS, JKAS, or central services—and still pursued their dream to reach the top echelons of India’s civil services. Their stories reflect resilience, strong family support, consistent preparation, and a deep commitment to public service.
